Chip Ganassi Racing’s Verizon IndyCar Series championship leader Scott Dixon is unlikely to join Team Penkse next season despite apparent interest from Roger Penske’s outfit.
The Iceman is out of contract with Chip Ganassi Racing at the end of the season and Penske are one of many teams to have been linked with a move for the New Zealander. In 2017, Penske reduced their Verizon IndyCar Series involvement from four to three full-time cars and it is unlikely that the team would go back to running four full-time cars with Dixon particularly as they will add Helio Castroneves for the Month of May.
Penske are also unlikely to make any changes to their existing line-up with defending series champion Josef Newgarden on a long-term contract with the team they also have the defending Indianapolis 500 champion Will Power who will not be going anywhere in 2019.
Simon Pagenaud is also set to remain with Penske in 2019. Paddock Eye understands that it is only a matter of time before Scott Dixon is confirmed with Chip Ganassi Racing for at least the next two years.
