The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series should get their drivers to show more respect. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was the latest setting for the series with races taking place on Monday and when Justin Allgaier took the win in the Xfinity Cup Series race he did burnouts over the bricks.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a hallowed sports ground and should be treated with respect.

When the Indianapolis 500 winner takes victory they don’t do burnouts over the finish line. I was appalled to see when I visited the Brickyard in September 2016 to see that there were donut rubber marks left on the front straight after NASCAR celebrated victory.

The fact that burnouts were carried out on the Brickyard on Monday has caused uproar and rightly so among Verizon IndyCar Series fans.
