The Verizon IndyCar Series was at the Watkins Glen International circuit on Thursday as preparations for the Labor Day weekend IndyCar Grand Prix at The Glen got underway.
The Glen returns to the series schedule this year for the first time since 2010 as a replacement for the Boston Grand Prix which was due to take place over Labor Day weekend but fell through earlier this year.
The drivers were delighted with the circuit which has been resurfaced and it was also a chance for the teams to record some valuable data on the condition of the circuit so that they focus on the best set up for their cars for the race which will be the penultimate round of the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season.
The majority of the Verizon IndyCar Series field attended the test with the exception of AJ Foyt Racing.
Will Power who has had a fantastic season after missing the season opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg set the fastest time of the day at the circuit ending up just ahead of Dale Coyne Racing’s Conor Daly.
Following the test Daly tweeted:
Ed Carpenter Racing’s Josef Newgarden took to Instagram to say:
Can’t wait to get back here on Labor Day weekend to race around this place. Awesome track.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Charlie Kimball tweeted:
