The Aston Martin Aramaco Cognizant Formula One Team has confirmed that Felipe Drugovich who filled in for the injured Lance Stroll during pre-season testing this week will drive in place of the Canadian should he not be in a position to compete in next weekend’s 2023 season opening Bahrain Grand Prix.
The news comes despite comments from Team Principal Mike Krack this week that he had conversations with his former driver Sebastian Vettel.
In a statement on Sunday, the Aston Martin Aramaco Cognizant Formula One Team tweeted:
An update on our driver line-up for the #BahrainGP.
The team will continue to give Lance every chance to race, pending recovery from his injury. Should he not be fit to compete, then Felipe will drive the AMR23 alongside Fernando. pic.twitter.com/G0gtPt0tAh
