Reigning Verizon IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon will have it all to do in the coming races to close the gap to leader Simon Pagenaud after the New Zealander was the first retirement from the Kohler Grand Prix at Road America.

Dixon in the No.9 Clorex Chevrolet was running second when there was a problem with his car. Chip Ganassi Racing suspected that it was an engine failure, as it stands Dixon would go to the next race in Iowa in fourth in the championship.
