Formula One Supremo Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed that he has no interest in buying back a controlling stake in Formula One having sold a majority stake in the sport to CVC Capital partners ten years ago.

CVC are currently on the hunt for a new owner for Formula One with Miami Dolphins owner Steven Ross a front runner to buy into the sport with Qatari backed consortium.

Ecclestone has confirmed that he wants someone to come into Formula One to help him to run the sport and his ideal person to help run the sport would be former Renault Team Principal Flavio Briatore however the Italian was banned from all involvement in motorsport for life in 2009 for his part in fixing the result of the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.

However in 2010, Briatore’s lifetime ban from motorsport was lifted on appeal however the Italian who is a close friend of Mr Ecclestone has confirmed that he would not be interesting in returning to Formula One.

Ecclestone has confirmed that he has put Briatore’s name along with others forward as he would like to help run Formula One to the board of CVC but that the candidates have been rejected at board level at CVC.
