Andretti Autosport Chief Operating Officer Rob Edwards says it was a good day for the team in Nashville after Kyle Kirkwood in the No.27 AutoNation Honda took his second win of the season in Nashville on Sunday.
Kirkwood started the race from eighth place and led 34 of the 80-lap Big Machine Music City Grand Prix on the streets of Nashville. It was the Jupiter, Florida native’s second race win of the season following his victory in Long Beach earlier this season.
The victory sees Kirkwood in ninth place in the championship with 290 points. Speaking following the action on Sunday, Rob Edwards commented saying:
“It was a good day for the team, overall with the win for the AutoNation team. We’ve been fast all year and have talked about how we need to execute on Sundays. The 27 team did a great job today executing on their race and the result came with that. The 28 was there as well and I think the 27 and 28 worked well together as a team. I’m disappointed for Colton – it was a day that started very well and then everything that could go wrong did go wrong the rest of the day. Also, an unfortunate result for the 29; it was a big weekend for Devlin and Wooooo! Energy and we’re disappointed to not have a better result for them. We’re back at home next weekend for the Brickyard and looking forward to getting back on track.”
