Andretti Global Chief Operating Officer Rob Edwards says that the BitNile.com Portland Grand Prix is going to be a big weekend for the team.
Colton Herta in the No.26 Gainbridge Honda is chasing championship leader Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda with the Californian in second place, albeit 59 points behind the Spaniard.
Following a disappointing Bommarito Automotive Group 500, Edwards hopes that Marcus Ericsson in the No.28 Delaware Life Honda has a solid weekend.
We’re off to the Pacific Northwest for our final road course of the 2024 season. All three drivers have plenty to race for still. For Marcus, we’re hoping that “Lady Luck” turns in his favor and we can convert the speed of the Delaware Life Honda into points as we look for a top-10 finish in the points standings at the end of the season. Kyle will be looking to put World Wide Technology Raceway behind him after he was caught up in an incident, and we will look to continue to build on what has been a very consistent season for the AutoNation Honda. For Colton, the focus is on the INDYCAR Championship and gaining ground on the No. 10 car. It’s going to be a big weekend.”
Colton Herta is looking forward to a strong weekend in Portland saying:
The Portland road circuit is amazing. It can be a difficult track to get used to since it has more right-hand turns than left-hand turns, and you also have to get a great balance of high and low speeds to perfect the track. The racing in Portland is always exciting, and I’m looking forward to getting back on a road course this weekend.”
Kyle Kirkwood in the No.27 AutoNation Honda is looking forward to the race this weekend saying:
Portland International Raceway is a track that is a lot of fun to drive and produces a lot of passing. It reminds me a lot of a karting track with the vast high-breaking zones and then a couple of very high-speed corners. However, it’s still a pretty short track. The AutoNation Honda has had some good road course finishes this season, so I’m hoping we can get a good result this weekend in Portland.”
Marcus Ericsson in the No.28 Delaware Life Honda is hoping for a change in fortunes following a disappointing Bommarito Automotive Group 500 last time out.
The first combination of corners at Portland International Raceway are really tight and twisty. It’s also a technical and short lap, so you really need to get all the corners right to be fast. I’m looking forward to getting back to Portland for the last road course of the season.”
