Andretti Global Chief Operating Officer Rob Edwards says it’s incredible that Honda Racing Corporation USA has won every race so far in 2025.
Kyle Kirkwood scored his second victory of the season at World Wide Technology Raceway on Sunday to claim his first career oval victory in INDYCAR.
Speaking to Paddock Eye following Sunday’s race, Edwards said:
It is incredible. They’re great partners. Barry Wanser and I texted each other after Detroit and said, this is working pretty good for HRC; let’s see if we can keep it going. Haven’t got the text year, but I assume the sentiment is going to be the same.
They’re great competitors, and they rub on us when we need to raise our game and vice versa. As someone that has only ever worked with Honda the whole time I’ve been in INDYCAR racing, they are just a great group. Love the relationship, love working with them. They want to win just as bad as we do, and hopefully we can keep delivering wins for them.
The victory sees Kirkwood in third place in the championship, 75 points behind series points leader Alex Palou.
Speaking following the race, Kirkwood said:
To be honest, we were not too happy with the car yesterday, but we got some help from our teammates and ended up making the Siemens Honda really good. on track today. We just had an amazing car. I really didn’t think we had it in the beginning, but as it got dark and cooled down, the No. 27 Siemens Honda just came alive. Hats off to my crew – these guys killed it in pit lane. Everyone at Andretti Global deserves this. Third win on the year, man, that’s incredible, and it’s my first oval win. I’m over the moon right now. Ovals have eluded me for a very long time, so it’s nice to get that first one checked off. I didn’t want people to think of me as just a street course guy, so this is a big one for me.”
