Andretti Global COO Rob Edwards says that the team has shown significant progress during the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES compared to where they were this time last year. Speaking to Paddock Eye as he traveled to Milwaukee for this weekend’s Hy-Vee double-header at the Milwaukee Mile.
Andretti Global has had a great season, with both Colton Herta and Kyle Kirkwood winning races. Speaking to Paddock Eye about the addition of Marcus Ericsson to the team, the Swede joined the outfit from Chip Ganassi Racing over the off-season of 2023; Edwards says that the Swede works extremely well with Colton Herta and Kyle Kirkwood but that he has just had bad luck during the season.
Speaking about the introduction of the hybrid unit that the series brought in earlier this season, Edwards said that Andretti Global are in the same boat as the likes of Team Penske, Arrow McLaren and Chip Ganassi Racing as the bigger teams had conducted the testing of the unit.
Andretti Global’s Jamie Chadwick took her first win this year in the INDY NXT presented by Firestone championship at Road America and Edwards says he was very impressed with her performances at Road America (where she won) and the race at Laguna Seca where she put on a strong performance, and he is excited to see how the Brit gets in her maiden NTT INDYCAR SERIES test which takes place next month.
Edwards says that the upcoming Milwaukee double-header this weekend should be good for Andretti Global as they have shown that they have a solid short oval package. Edwards says that the No.26 Gainbridge Honda team of Colton Herta are still in the fight for the championship but that they will need a lot for them to go their way to win the championship. Herta is 69 points behind championship leader Alex Palou.
Edwards believes that Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden will be strong this weekend in Milwaukee, as will the Chip Ganassi Racing pairing of Alex Palou and six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Scott Dixon.
