Marcus Ericsson was in action for the Sauber F1 Team on Monday as winter testing got underway at the Barcelona Circuit Du Catalunya in Montmelo, Spain.
The Swedish driver completed 88 laps in the Ferrari powered C34 and set the eighth fastest time of the day using Pirelli’s Medium compound tyre with a fastest time of 1m 27.555s. The days programme consisted of car set up work along with tyre work.
Speaking following the session, Ericsson stated:
It was a productive day. My last time in the car was a few month ago, so it was great to finally be back in it again. Even though it was the C34, we were focusing a lot on trying different things that we did not have the time for last year. We tested several set-ups on the car, and we will use some information from this for early work on the C35. It was an extensive programme from which we obtained interesting data to look into.
Ericsson will be back in the car on Tuesday before handing it over to team mate Felipe Nasr on Wednesday.
