Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports team co owner Sam Schmidt has confirmed that Marcus Ericsson remains under consideration to stay with team in 2020 when they become Arrow McLaren Racing SP.
Ericsson who is out of contract at the end of the season missed the Grand Prix of Portland last weekend as he was drafted in by Alfa Romeo Racing to conduct his reserve driver role in Belgium however he was not needed as Kimi Raikkonen competed in the race despite a leg injury.
Ericsson said that it was not an optimal situation as he looks to extend his stay in the NTT IndyCar Series for 2020.
The Swede has scored one podium which came when he finished in second place in Detroit race 2.
Schmidt said that Ericsson would be able to use what he learnt this season in 2020. The team confirmed on Sunday that James Hinchcliffe will stay with the team in 2020 when they move to Chevrolet power.
There are a number of other drivers under consideration for the second seat including Marcus Ericsson.
Paddock Eye understands that Conor Daly who subbed for Ericsson in Portland is under consideration by the team and Zak Brown and Gil de Ferran.
The picture will become clearer following the season finale in just under three weeks.
