Former Formula One driver Marcus Ericsson has signed a new multi-year contract extension with Chip Ganassi Racing. Paddock Eye understands that the deal was reached earlier this week ahead of this Portland Grand Prix and is a reward for the Swede who has been extremely impressive during his second season with Ganassi after he and the No.8 Huski Chocolate Honda crew found form.
Ericsson has been one of the stand out performers this season having taken two victories to date in 2021 having won Detroit race one and also taking victory in the inaugural Big Machine Music City Grand Prix in Nashville last month.
The new contract for Marcus means that Chip Ganassi Racing will have an unchanged line up for 2022 with Scott Dixon returning to the No.9 PNC Bank Honda, Alex Palou returns to the No.10 NTT DATA Honda, while Jimmie Johnson and Tony Kanaan will share the No.48 Carvana Honda.
