Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Marcus Ericsson says he will take his Verizon IndyCar Series debut season step by step.
The Swede has been confirmed as James Hinchcliffe’s team mate at SPM for 2019.
Ericsson’s oval debut will be the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 next May and is something that the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team driver is not phased by.
Speaking to IndyCar.com about his move, Ericsson said he believes having James Hinchcliffe as his team mate will help him to adapt to life in the IndyCar Series.
I think you need to go into it very open-minded and sort of take it step by step. “I’m lucky to have such a good team around me with SPM. They will help me get up to speed and with James as a teammate, I think that will help as well.”
When it comes to the Indianapolis 500, SPM have a lot of experience and success there with the Mayor of HinchTown having taken pole position for the 100th running of the race in 2016.
