World Rally Championship leader Elfyn Evans won stage 3 of Rally Italia Sardegna for Toyota ending the stage just 2.1s ahead of his team mate Sebastien Ogier.

Dani Sordo who tool victory in stage 2 was third in Stage 3, 3.3s behind Evans.

Rally leader Teemu Suninen was fourth fastest through the stage just ahead of Thierry Neuville and Takamoto Katsuta and Kalle Rovanpera.

Gus Greensmith was eighth for M Sport just ahead of Pierre Louis Loubet while defending champion Ott Tanak was 13th.

Car #33 E. Evans – S. Martin (Toyota Yaris WRC): “It is a bit rough now in places but overall OK”

Car #17 S. Ogier – J. Ingrassia (Toyota Yaris WRC): “Not a problem [the sunlight]. The stage was OK for me, it is a challenging one so I am happy to be out of it without trouble”

Car #8 O. Tänak – M. Järveoja (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC): [does not speak]

Car #69 K. Rovanpera – J. Halttunen (Toyota Yaris WRC): “It was a tricky stage, it is difficult because you cannot change the setup. The car was quite soft and there were quite a lot of big hits. I was quite careful but the time is not good”

Car #11 T. Neuville – N. Gilsoul (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC): “I did my best, we have to work on the car. It is not working in these conditions so we struggle”

Car #3 T. Suninen – J. Lehtinen (Ford Fiesta WRC): “That was a pretty clear one. Not so many places to improve on, but yeah it was clean”

Car #44 G. Greensmith – E. Edmondson (Ford Fiesta WRC): “We had a better second stage in there. There were some places where I maybe lost a bit by trying to push too much, but generally much better than this morning”

Car #18 T. Katsuta – D. Barritt (Toyota Yaris WRC): “This stage was much better than this morning. I have more confidence than this morning. I was too nervous this morning. Still a long way to go, I need to survive”

Car #6 D. Sordo – C. Del Barrio (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC): “We will try of course [to take the lead]. It was a difficult stage, very very rough. I am happy, the time is not so bad. I did not want to make mistakes or get a puncture. It was good”

Car #7 P.L. Loubet – V. Landais (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC): “Very difficult one, I do not know. I thought the pace was not so bad but the time is not really good”

Car #23 P. Tidemand – P. Barth (Skoda Fabia Evo): “I have been a bit careful. I will try to increase the speed. We will do our best

Car #24 M. Ostberg – T. Eriksen (Citroen C3): “It is quite complicated [to drive a 4WD with 2WD]. Just trying to manage as well as possible, getting through the stages.”

Car #25 A. Fourmaux – R. Jamoul (Ford Fiesta MkII): “Incredible stage, I am completely destroyed. Sometimes you hit some things and you do not know what. You cannot see because sometimes it is after a crest. It is quite difficult, we are lucky we have 4 wheels here. We need to continue”
