McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown says that the team’s new driver Daniel Ricciardo has settled down well into the outfit. Speaking to Paddock Eye during a Zoom conference call on Monday as the team unveiled their MCL35M. Brown said that everyone in the team is excited to have Ricciardo in the team after the Australian joined the outfit from Renault during the off season.
Brown said that Ricciardo has already done a lot of work with the team on the commercial side of things as well as doing simulator work and he has commented on how welcoming everyone has been.
When asked about the the integration of the Mercedes power unit, Brown said that he has heard nothing but good things about the new Mercedes power unit while McLaren technical director James Key told us that it has been a positive experience and that they know Mercedes and Mercedes know them so they are keen to get back working with McLaren and working with some familiar faces again.
Key went on to say that the new partnership has been very straightforward and they are very happy with it so far. Meanwhile, Lando Norris said he is looking forward to conducting his shakedown test of the new car later this week. Daniel Ricciardo confirmed during the call that his contract with McLaren is for three years.
