AJ Foyt Racing heads into the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season looking to rebound from a tough campaign last year.
The team were dealt a blow when it was announced last season that ABC Supply who have been with the outfit for many years have scaled back their involvement with the team in 2020.
For the new season, AJ will run one full time car with Charlie Kimball returning to full time NTT IndyCar Series competition driving the No.4 NovoNordisk Chevrolet while it confirmed on Thursday that Tony Kanaan will compete in a partial programme of ovals only in 2020 starting with the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 24.
The fact that Foyt has secured the services of Charlie Kimball is great news for the team as CK is great at giving feedback to the engineers and having been a part time driver in 2019 with Carlin he got to understand the inner workings of a NTT IndyCar Series team which should help move AJ Foyt Racing forward in 2020 as he has new prospective and appreciation for how teams work.
Kimball and Kanaan have worked together previously during their time as team mates at Chip Ganassi Racing so the fact that they know how each other work will be extremely beneficial to Foyt during the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season.
Kimball and Kanaan have 421 combined race starts in the NTT IndyCar Series making them one of the most experienced pairings on the grid for the 2020 season.
Kanaan may not be competing full time in the NTT IndyCar Series this year but Paddock Eye understands that the Brazilian will attend other races with Foyt.
