Scuderia Ferrari’s Managing Director of Sports Management and Team Principal Mattia Binotto has confirmed that the Prancing Horse are exploring the possibility of entering the NTT IndyCar Series in 2022.

Speaking to Sky Italia, Binotto said that with the new financial controls coming into Formula One in 2021 where teams will be allowed to spend $145 million, Binotto said that Ferrari are looking at alternative racing categories alongside their Formula One commitments to place senior personnel that would otherwise would face redundancy.

Binotto said that the new engine formula that is being introduced by the NTT IndyCar Series in 2022 is very appealing to the Prancing Horse.

As we recently reported if Ferrari were to enter IndyCar in 2022 the series would have to change the regulations that would allow for a second chassis as fellow Italian chassis manufacturer Dallara have been the sole chassis provider to the series since 2009.
