Scuderia Ferrari confirmed on Wednesday that their new driver Charles Leclerc will test for the team alongside Sebastian Vettel in the two day end of season test that takes place at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi next Tuesday and Wednesday as teams try out the new 2019 Pirelli tyres.
Leclerc replaces Kimi Raikkonen who has spent eight seasons with Ferrari having first joined the team from McLaren ahead of the 2007 season. Kimi won the championship in 2007 following a close battle with McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.
Raikkonen remains Ferrari’s latest world champion and will for 2019 return to the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team where it all began back in 2001.
Since joining Ferrari, the Iceman has scored ten victories, the most recent of which came at the United States Grand Prix in Austin earlier this season. Kimi is currently fifth in the all time list of most Grand Prix starts.
Ferrari understand that there could be some drops of rain during the race weekend but they expect departures to be in the 30’s for practice and the race on Sunday.
