Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc were fastest on the opening day of practice for this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sakhir circuit.
The Ferrari duo ended the day just ahead of the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.
It was a great afternoon for the Renault F1 Team as Nico Hulkenberg was fifth fastest just 0.823s behind Vettel. Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen was sixth fastest just ahead of Kevin Magnussen and Lando Norris in his McLaren.
Romain Grosjean was ninth fastest for the Haas F1 Team just ahead of Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat who rounded out the top ten.
Carlos Sainz was 11th for McLaren just ahead of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Pierre Gasly.
Alex Albon was 13th just ahead of SportPesa Racing Point F1 Team’s Sergio Checo Perez and Alfa Romeo Racing’s Kimi Raikkonen who had very limited running due to cooling issues with his Ferrari powered C38.
Lance Stroll was 17th for the SportPesa Racing Point F1 Team. Antonio Giovinazzi suffered the same cooling issues that Raikkonen had.
Rokit Williams Racing’s George Russell and Robert Kubica rounded out the order.
