Scuderia Ferrari launched their 2019 car, the SF90 at their HQ in Maranello on Friday. It also marked new signing Charles Leclerc’s first official engagement as Ferrari driver since joining the team at the end of last season replacing Kimi Raikkonen who moved to the Alfa Romeo Racing team.
Speaking at the launch of the new car, Leclerc commented saying:
I prepared the maximum I could during the winter break, physically and mentally’
Ferrari go into the 2019 season having finished the 2018 Formula One season in second place in both the drivers and constructors championships and they hope that the new car will enable to them to beat Mercedes in 2019.
Speaking at the launch of the new car, Sebastian Vettel said:
Everything is a progression, the mood in the team is good, so I can’t wait to jump in the car and to have some fun. I want to win the championship. That’s my mission and the reason why I am here.
Scuderia Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto confirmed that Sebastian Vettel will drive the car on the opening day of testing on Monday while Charles Leclerc will drive on day 2 before they alternate.
