Mario Andretti, the 1978 Formula One World Champion who had just been named to the board of directors of the Cadillac Formula One team, says that the American team would love to be supplied by Ferrari for 2026 and 2027 before having their own power unit in 2028.
Speaking to Paddock Eye on Tuesday, Andretti said that while he has nothing to confirm just yet, he is hopeful that the deal with the Prancing Horse will come to fruition. He has a great relationship with the Maranello-based outfit and had a great relationship with Ferrari’s late founder, Enzo Ferrari. Andretti drove for Ferrari in Formula One from 1970 to 1972.
Andretti told Paddock Eye in an interview on Tuesday that it would mean a lot to him on a personal level, given his relationship with Ferrari in the past. Andretti has maintained a presence in Formula One as an ambassador for the Circuit Of The Americas in Austin, Texas.
The United States is one of the biggest markets for Ferrari and to be involved with a second American team with Ferrari already supplying the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team.
