Dale Coyne Racing may have a challenge on their hands when it comes to holding onto NTT IndyCar Series rookie Santino Ferrucci for the 2020 season. The 21 year old has been extremely quick during his debut season in the series and has performed like a veteran.
On Sunday in Pocono, Ferrucci started the race from 13th place on the grid due to the championship standings after qualifying was washed out on Saturday.
Ferrucci scored his second fourth place finish of the season having come home in fourth place at Texas Motor Speedway in the DXC Technology 600. The Pennsylvania native had a fantastic race in Pocono carving his way through the field from 13th on the grid to finish the race in fourth place having fought Team Penske’s Will Power and Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon for the win.
Ferrucci is out of contract with Dale Coyne Racing at the end of the season and Paddock Eye understands that the 21 year old is high on Arrow McLaren Racing’s list to potentially partner James Hinchcliffe for the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season.
Speaking following Sunday’s race in Pocono, Ferrucci said:
I think we definitely had a top three in us, and we were fighting for a chance to win the race at one point.
