FIA technical chief Marcin Budkowski won’t be able to join the Renault Sport F1 Team until April 2018 after the FIA doubled his gardening leave.

The Enstone outfit sparked controversy and protests from rival teams after announcing Budkowski’s signing earlier this season as they felt it was a conflict of interest as Budkowski had access to teams existing designs as well as car designs for 2018 cars.

The new means that the season will be underway when Budkowski arrives at Enstone. Renault have confirmed that Budkowski will take up his new role of Executive Director on April 1st.
