The Verizon IndyCar Series confirmed the completion plan for the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway which will take place on August 27.
The main headlines are that the No.21 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet of Josef Newgarden and the No.18 Dale Coyne Racing Honda of Conor Daly will not be permitted to compete in the race due to the damage sustained to their cars and engines in the crash on lap 42.
The drivers completing the race will be allowed to use engines and chassis’ of their choice. Of note:
- A mandatory systems check (an out/in lap only)
- A 25-minute practice session: Cars will be split into two groups, each group receiving 10 minutes of practice time with a five-minute break in between;
- A driver autograph session on the track’s concourse;
- Completion of the race in the evening.
Texas Motor Speedway will announce details of ticket sales and camping passes in the coming weeks.
