Firestone Racing has brought more than 1,800 race tires for this weekend’s 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season-ending Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The race track has been completely resurfaced from last season leading to a much smoother surface which drivers hope will create more grip and it has also increased the lap time and this year, Firestone are bringing the same tire that they used here in 2022 with the same construction and compound.
Speaking about the tire, Cara Krstolic, Chief Engineer, on INDYCAR tires said:
This year’s primary and alternate tires have the same construction as the 2022 Grand Prix of Monterey, while the compounds will be similar to what was provided for this year’s Mid-Ohio race.
Primary (black sidewall): 9 sets per entry
Alternate (red sidewall): 4 sets per entry
Rain (gray sidewall): 3 sets per entry
