Firestone Racing brought more than 5,000 tires to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
The 33 drivers entered into the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil received 36 sets of tires between practice, qualifying and the race.
Speaking about the compounds for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil, Firestone Racing’s Chief Engineer, Cara Adams commented saying:
The Firestone Race Engineering team worked closely with INDYCAR at the aero kit development testing and manufacturer testing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to select the tire for the 102nd Running of the Indianapolis 500. “Based on our learnings from testing, we’re bringing race-proven technology to IMS that features similar compounds and constructions as 2017 with a minor left construction change that improves stagger.
