Firestone Racing have confirmed they are bringing more than 1,100 race tires to this weekend’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Gateway Motorsports Park, the final oval event of the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season.

Each driver will receive 11 sets of the Firehawk tire and the tire used is the same as the one used in Phoenix.

Speaking ahead of the race this weekend, Chief Engineer with Bridgestone Americas Motorsports, Cara Adams commented by saying:

To meet the demands of the new aero kit, we are bringing to Gateway the same tires used at this year’s Phoenix race,” said Cara Adams, Chief Engineer, Bridgestone Americas Motorsports. “The left-side tires feature a new compound with the same construction as our 2017 Gateway tires, while the right-side tires have a new, softer construction with the same compound as our 2017 Gateway tires. This combination gives drivers more grip in the low downforce configuration.
