Firestone Racing are bringing more than 1,700 race tires to this weekend’s Verizon IndyCar Series Portland Grand Prix.

The event will be a special return for the company’s Chief Engineer Cara Adams whose first race with the company was the 2007 Portland GP when she joined the company as an engineer.

Speaking about this weekend’s event, Adams commented by saying:

The Firestone Race Tire Engineering team is excited for INDYCAR’s first race in Portland since 2007. We’ve used data from more than a decade of testing and racing at similar road courses to prepare the right tires for this event. “We will be applying the same split alternate compound strategy used earlier this season at Mid-Ohio. Both primaries and the left-side alternate tire feature the same compound and construction as our 2018 Indy GP and Mid-Ohio tires, while the right-side alternate tire has a softer compound for enhanced grip.

Each entry will receive:

  • 11 sets of the Primary black tire
  • 4 sets of the red walled Alternate tire
  • 5 sets of the rain tire.
