The NTT IndyCar Series heads to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Saturday’s Big Machine Spiked Coolers Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. It is the series second visit to the Speedway road course since May and Firestone Racing, the official tire provider to the NTT IndyCar Series has brought more than 1400 race tires for the weekend. The action gets underway later today.
Each driver will get the following allocation:
- Five sets of the Primary tire
- Four sets of the Alternate tire
- Five sets of the Rain tire.
The tire for this weekend is the same compound and construction as the one that was used for the GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis in May and speaking ahead of the race this weekend, Cara Adams, Director of Race Tire Engineering and Production with Bridgestone Americas Motorsports said:
With the NTT INDYCAR SERIES returning to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, Firestone Racing is bringing the same primary and alternate tire construction and compounds used at the 2021 GMR Grand Prix. These tires were designed with a more durable compund than other road course tires to handle the higher level of banking that comes with having a section of the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval included in the circuit.
