The NTT IndyCar Series heads to Road America for this weekend’s REV Group Grand Prix of Road America which is a completely different animal compared to last weekend’s doubleheader on the streets of Detroit, for one thing, Road America is a permanent road course and as such the characteristics of the track surface is completely different to that of Detroit.
Looking ahead to this weekend’s race, Cara Adams, Director of Race Tire Engineering and Production with Bridgestone Americas Motorsports commented saying:
Road America is a great four-mile road circuit with a lot of high-speed turns, which puts a lot of work on the tires. Because of these characteristics, our Firestone Race Tire Engineering team runs a lighter tire gauge to mitigate the heat generated from high speeds. This weekend Firestone is bringing the same compound and construction used at Road America in 2020.
Firestone has brought more than 1,500 race tires to Road America this weekend.
