Firestone Racing head to the Lone Star state for this weekend’s first NTT IndyCar Series double-header weekend of the 2021 season at Texas Motor Speedway with the Genesys 300 taking place on Saturday while on Sunday, the XPEL 375 takes place.

Firestone, Texas Motor Speedway officials, and the NTT IndyCar Series have worked incredibly hard over the off-season and since the test here earlier this year to help improve the single-lane grove around the superspeedway.

Firestone has brought 1600 tires to TMS this weekend which will see the right-side tires have a new construction for this year with a compound that provides more grip but provides more wear compared to previous years.

The left side has a more durable compound compared to last year but it is softer than in 2019. Speaking ahead of the races this weekend, Director of Race Tire Engineering and Production with Bridgestone Americas Motorsports, Cara Adams said:

Our Firestone Racing team is looking forward to this weekend’s doubleheader at Texas Motor Speedway, which is the first IndyCar doubleheader weekend at the track since 2011. This year, our team is bringing a left-side construction that is similar to previous years at Texas, with a left-side compound that is slightly softer than 2019 but more durable than last year’s. The right-side construction for Texas is new this year, along with a compound that will provide more grip and faster wear than previous years.

This weekend, each entrant in the NTT IndyCar Series will receive 13 sets of Firestone race tires for the two events over practice, Saturday’s qualifying, and both races.
