Firestone are supplying the NTT IndyCar Series team’s with more than 1,500 race tires for this weekend’s Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.

Each driver will receive

  • Seven sets of the Primary Black tire
  • Four sets of Alternate Red tire
  • Five sets of the Rain Grey tire

Speaking ahead of the race, Chief engineer with Bridgestone Americas Motorsports Cara Adams said:

The INDYCAR Grand Prix kicks off an exciting month for the Firestone Race Tire Engineering team as we return to Indianapolis. This race is a fun challenge for our team to design race tires that are versatile enough to meet the unique demands of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, which incorporates the front straight of the famed track’s high-speed oval. With the changes made to the universal aerokit last season we saw a need to increase mechanical grip at the 2018 Indy GP, which is why we designed a new primary compound for this year’s race. The primary construction remains the same as the 2018 Indy GP primary tire, and we’ll be bringing back the same race-proven alternate tire compound and construction from last year’s race, too.”
