Firestone Racing are ready for the final race of the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season as 224 days after the series was due to start the season they will return to Florida to end the season the where it was due to start with the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg and as Team Penske’s defending series champion and 2020 championship contender Josef Newgarden said on Wednesday it is fitting that the series is going full circle.
This weekend, Firestone are bringing the same tires that they used on all of the street course races in 2019 with the same construction however the compound increases the grip without sacrifices wear.
Speaking ahead of the race this weekend, Director of Race Tire Engineering and Production of Bridgestone Americas Motorsports Cara Adams said:
This season has been a unique journey that has challenged all of us to continuously adjust and adapt in the face of adversity, It’s a great feeling to celebrate a year of successful collaboration across the paddock by helping to crown the 2020 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season champion at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. For this weekend, the primary and alternate tires feature the same construction as the tires we used at all 2019 street course races and a new compound that delivers more grip without sacrificing wear.
Each driver will receive seven sets of the Primary tire and four sets of the alternate and five sets of wet tires for the weekend.
