Josef Newgarden was on track at Road America on Monday, his first day with Team Penske. The American replaces Juan Pablo Montoya in the No.2 Chevrolet in 2017.
Newgarden joined Simon Pagenaud and Helio Castroneves at the circuit as pre-season testing got underway for the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season. Team Penske were the only outfit in action on Monday.
Testing will continue on behalf of Firestone at Gateway Motorsports Park where Andretti Autosport, Ed Carpenter Racing, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and Chip Ganassi Racing will all be in action on Thursday.
