It’s race week at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The biggest single-day sporting event in the world is upon us, and for the second year in a row, two prominent figures in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES paddock will be absent from the Greatest Spectacle In Racing.

Last season, after being found to have cheated in the push-to-pass scandal in the opening race of the season, both Penske Team President Tim Cindric and INDYCAR Managing Director Ron Ruzunski were suspended for the Indianapolis 500. Once again, for this year’s race, the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500, both Cindric and Ruzewski will be absent from the race.

Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin, who crashed on Sunday morning in practice, will start the race from 10th. In a statement on Monday, Team Penske said:

We accept the penalties issued today by the INDYCAR Series which are due to a “Body Fit” violation that occurred prior to the qualifying session yesterday. We are disappointed by the results and the impact it has on our organization. We will make further announcements later this week related to personnel for the upcoming Indianapolis 500.”
