NHRA Funny Car driver Courtney Force, the most successful female driver in Funny Car history announced on Thursday that she will step away from racing with immediate effect.
Force has been a fantastic ambassador for the series and indeed for her dad’s team, John Force Racing but more than that she has shown that female racing drivers can not only compete in top level motorsport but that they can also be extremely successful against their male counterparts.
Courtney’s success in the NHRA Mellow Yellow Funny Car series just shows that if you have the talent which she does, gender doesn’t matter and it has been fantastic to follow her career.
For female racers who are coming up through the junior ranks, Courtney is certainly someone who they can look up to and say to themselves if they work as hard as she has they can also succeed in whatever racing discipline they decide to compete in, be it the NHRA or the NTT IndyCar Series, where Danica Patrick showed that she could compete against her male counterparts and succeed.
Paddock Eye would just like to take the opportunity to wish Courtney Force all the best for the future.
