Former Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Stefano Domenicali has been appointed President and CEO of Lamborghini.
Lamborghini are owned by the Volkwagen Audi Group somewhere that is not new to Domenicali as since leaving Ferrari in April 2014 he has worked with Audi on a number of different projects and also closely with the FIA.
It is unlikely however given the current situation that the Volkswagen Audi Group finds itself in following the emissions scandal that we will see Domenicali return to the Formula One paddock with Lamborghini.
Domenicali who served as Ferrari team principal from 2008 – 2014 commented on his new position saying:
I am very excited to be taking on the challenges of this great legacy. It is now my duty to continue the successes that my predecessor Stephan Winkelmann achieved for Automobili Lamborghini.
Chairman of the board at Lamborghini, Rupert Stadler commented by saying:
Over the past eleven years Stephan Winkelmann has transformed Lamborghini into a global leader in the manufacture of super sports cars. His successor, who also possesses a wealth of experience in this area, will be continuing this success.
Domenicali replaces Stephan Winkelmann who moves across to Audi to head up their Quattro division.
