AJ Foyt Racing had a challenging 2019 NTT IndyCar Series season and following the loss of ABC Supply as a full time partner the team are in search of some new partners.
Paddock Eye understands that Series veteran Tony Kanaan will return to the team for a third season and reports in the US say that Charlie Kimball who ran a partial programme with Carlin in 2019 has extra funding for a 2020 full time programme with Foyt reuniting with his former Chip Ganassi Racing team mate Tony Kanaan.
It is also possible that although James Hinchcliffe has strong links with Honda he potentially on AJ Foyt Racing’s list and with the Canadian’s popularity within the series it is very possible that the team could run three cars if they can gain the sponsorship.
Foyt could also potentially partner with another company such a Jonathan Byrd or another partner to allow his team to run three cars full time.
Paddock Eye understands however that the most realistic option will be James Hinchcliffe replacing Sebastien Bourdais at Dale Coyne Racing alongside Santino Ferrucci.
