AJ Foyt Racing Team President Larry Foyt is excited for David Malukas to join the outfit in 2025. Speaking to Paddock Eye ahead of this weekend’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway, Foyt confirmed that they had been speaking with Malukas for a while and that he is happy to finally make the announcement.
Foyt says that the team felt that Malukas was one of the best free agents out there and that it came together very quickly. he sees the team’s potential, and they see what he can do, and it is a win-win situation.
Looking ahead to WWTR this weekend, Foyt said that the team feels like they have a good package there, but they are a little nervous because they haven’t tested there recently. However, Santino Ferrucci really enjoys the venue.
Speaking about the rest of the season, Foyt said that the team will hope to stay in the top ten in the standings. He also hopes that the team can get Sting Ray Robb into the Leaders Circle, which is where the top twenty-two cars get into.
Foyt says that his two guys have done really well on ovals this season. He is happy that the end of the year is oval-heavy, and they have had some really good races at Nashville Super Speedway.
Foyt has been really happy with their technical partnership with Team Penske, which he feels has helped both teams in terms of their drivers and their ability to move forward. Regarding the potential charter system that INDYCAR are introducing, Foyt says that he feels it is great for the sport in terms of equity in the teams and that this will certainly help the health of the teams in the sport.
In terms of the hybrid system that was introduced this season, Foyt says that he feels that it has been great for the sport because it is the direction that the series is heading in and the manufacturers have done a great job in the introduction of the new technology with just a few minor issues which have been sorted out.
