AJ Foyt Racing are working extremely hard to ensure that Takuma Sato in the No.14 ABC Supply Honda will be able to take part in tonight’s Desert Diamond West Valley Phoenix Grand Prix at Phoenix International Raceway following his heavy crash during first practice on Friday at Turn 2.

Sato will start tonight’s race from 20th place having missed qualifying on Friday afternoon and subsequently missed the evening practice session.

AJ Foyt Racing Racing Director George Klotz commented by saying:

It’s easier to answer what wasn’t damaged. We had to replace the engine, the whole left side and the gearbox was broken in half. It takes about 30 man hours to get this car back together. We had to change all the suspension and bodywork on the left side then replace the front and rear wings.

Klotz concluded by saying:

We’ve got that all tackled now and we are heading in the right way. It was a big hit.
