Andretti Autosport team owner Michael Andretti has revealed that he is likely to field his Formula E driver Robin Frijns in the Verizon IndyCar Series on a part time programme in 2016.

Andretti has already confirmed that he will have three full time cars in the series this season with Ryan Hunter Reay, Marco Andretti and Carlos Munoz all remaining with the outfit this year.

Speaking to NBC Sports, Andretti confirmed that he wants to put the former F1 driver Frijns in his IndyCar set up saying:

Right now we’re still a three car team – there are still a couple of irons in the fire for the fourth car, We also have a couple of irons in the fire for the fourth car, for maybe doing certain races, not the whole season, so we’re still trying.

Andretti went on to say:

It’s very possible that he could, one or two races, but we’ll see. It’s possible, yeah.
