McLaren Honda’s Fernando Alonso endured another tough race weekend at the Sakhir Circuit on Sunday were his McLaren MCL32 suffered a engine failure, three laps from the end of the race.
Speaking on Instagram, the two time Formula One champion commented by saying:
We push every single lap. Didn’t have the pace to be in the points today. Let’s hope for a better race in Russia. #bahraingp#honda#mclaren#14
The Formula One team’s will stay in Bahrain for a two day test on Tuesday and Wednesday however, Alonso is unlikely to attend the test as he will head to Birmingham Alabama for the Honda Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park next weekend.
Alonso will join his new team-mate’s Alexander Rossi, Ryan Hunter Reay, Takuma Sato and Marco Andretti for round three of the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series schedule.
Alonso will have a seat fitting with the Andretti Autosport team the following Monday.
