The Renault F1 Team have announced that they have signed Pat Fry for the 2020 season and that the Englishman will join the Enstone outfits technical management team when his current contractual obligations have been met.
Speaking about his appointment, Marcin Budkowski, Executive Director of Renault Sport Racing UK said:
“I am delighted to be able to work with Pat again. His arrival is yet another step as we build and improve our team structure. Pat’s experience, talent and determination will be additional assets as we continue our progress.
Fry who began his Formula One career with Benetton in 1987 and served as Martin Brundle’s race engineer in 1992.
In 1993, Fry joined McLaren Racing and was instrumental in their success during the late 1990’s and Lewis Hamilton’s first title win in 2008.
In 2010 Fry left McLaren to join Ferrari before moving to Manor Racing in 2016 where he served as engineering consultant before returning to McLaren in 2018 on an interim basis while McLaren awaited the arrival of James Key from Scuderia Toro Rosso.
