Chip Ganassi says that he is delighted to see Danica Patrick return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s NASCAR season finale in Miami, Ganassi said that it is a fabulous marketing exercise and that he only learnt that the former Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team and Andretti Autosport driver will return for the Indy 500 on Thursday.
As to whether or not she will drive alongside Scott Dixon and Ed Jones at the Indianapolis 500 in a third Ganassi entry, Chip said that there is a lot to sort out on the business side before a decision can be made.
I have talked to her and her representatives,
I just learned about all this yesterday,” Ganassi said. “I’m a long way from saying I can do it. They were talking about one (of the two races) or both.
“I need to know more. I need to talk to my people. There are a lot of moving parts.
