Toro Rosso negotiated with Verizon IndyCar Series team Chip Ganassi Racing about signing New Zealander Brendon Hartley for the 2018 Formula One season.

Hartley who is currently driving with Toro Rosso alongside Pierre Gasly had been set to drive the No.10 NTT DATA Honda alongside four time Verizon IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon however the IndyCar team announced last week that 2017 Sunoco Rookie of the year Ed Jones will drive alongside Dixon.

Speaking about Hartley, Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost confirmed that his F1 struck a deal with Chip Ganassi Racing to allow Hartley to join Toro Rosso.
