Chip Ganassi Racing has had an incredible 2021 NTT IndyCar Series season with three of their four drivers who have been in the running to win the championship this season. Defending series champion Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda, Alex Palou in the No.10 NTT DATA Honda in his first season with the team and Marcus Ericsson in the No.8 Huski Chocolate Honda in his second season with the team having all taken victories this season.
Scott Dixon who took one victory in Texas this season while Marcus Ericsson has taken two victories this season were in the running for the championship up until last weekend’s penultimate race of the season at the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
Alex Palou has taken seven podium finishes this year, including one NTT P1 Awards while he has also scored three victories in the season-opening Honda Ind Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park, the Spaniard went on to win the REV Group Grand Prix of Road America while he also took victory at the Grand Prix of Portland two weeks ago. Palou takes a 35 point lead in the championship over Arrow McLaren SP’s Pato O’Ward as the NTT IndyCar Series heads into the season-ending Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach this weekend.
