Chip Ganassi Racing’s four drivers, Marcus Ericsson in the No.8 Huski Chocolate Honda, Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda, Alex Palou in the No.10 Ridgeline Lubricants Honda and Takuma Sato in the No.11 Niterra Deloitte Honda completed a combined total of 451 laps during Thursday’s open test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The test had been scheduled to take place over two days as teams prepare for The Greatest Spectacle In Racing, the 107th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge which takes place on Sunday, May 28.
Chip Ganassi Racing Team Manager Taylor Kiel, who also serves as strategist to Marcus Ericsson commented saying:
First day back at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It’s always a really important test for us, considering the significance of the race for our team. Step one toward our goal of winning the Indianapolis 500 is complete. It was a really good day yesterday (Thursday) and we got a lot in while anticipating the rain on the second day today. Everybody goes to the open test with a pretty extensive list, including us, and we got through a lot of things from a technical and engineering point of view. We worked to get a better understanding of the new aerodynamic components and how they correlate with our behind the scenes work, and feel really good heading into the month of May with what we accomplished.
