Chip Ganassi Racing again looks like the team to beat in today’s Sonsio Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the IMS road course. Runaway championship leader Alex Palou, in the No.10 DHL Honda, starts the race from pole with a time of 01:09.3417s, while in warm-up this morning, he was fourth fastest.
Scott Dixon, in the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, starts today’s race from 16th place on the grid. However, the Iceman was fast on Saturday morning’s warm-up, ending the session in third place with a time of 01:10.8647s. The Iceman will be one driver to watch for today’s race. If Dixon’s performance last weekend in Barber was anything to go by, where he came from 26th to finish the race in 12th, he will certainly be fast today.
Dixon is currently seventh in the standings, 92 points behind Palou. If anyone can come through the field, it’s Scott Dixon; he will have to be careful about the cars around him. However, the driver of the No.9 PNC Bank Honda is smart, and he feels the car is good. He will be at the front at the end of the race.
Kyffin Simpson in the No.8 Journie Rewards Honda starts today’s race from tenth place for the second race in a row and will be looking for a strong event later today as he progresses in his second season in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
