NTT INDYCAR SERIES team owner Chip Ganassi says that he is monitoring the situation with Honda Performance Development regarding the company’s comments that they are considering pulling out of the series at the end of 2026 if costs are not brought down.
Speaking to selected media during an NTT INDYCAR SERIES conference call on Tuesday, Ganassi said that he is aware of the stories doing the rounds over the last few days and that they need to sit down with Honda and discuss the concerns and see what they can do to resolve the situation.
HPD is believed to be concerned about the escalating cost of the development of the new hybrid system but also the financial impact of supplying more engines for full-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES entries.
Honda Performance Development will supply no fewer than 15 full-time entrants over the course of the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season while Andretti Global and Meyer Shank Racing will run an extra car each at least for the 108th running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 26.
